When our daughter
and her fiancé decided to be married at home in the side yard,
we realized that it was necessary to seek out professional help in
order to make space for the 125 guests who were expected to attend.
The bridal couple wanted the backdrop for the ceremony to be the Twin
Lights on Thacher’s Island.

Martin Ray put his not-inconsiderable talents to work meeting those
criteria. He planned to retain much of the native plantings by the
sea by taming some areas of catbrier, aspen, and other invasive plants,
as well as maintaining privacy from the road. He also created rock
pathways and walls, in addition to new gardens, to enhance the wedding
space.

His vision and expertise, especially with rocks which he found on
the premises, created not only a special space for a wonderful day,
but also a setting which will bring joy for generations to come.
